…continuing with some of Mandriva 2011 beta2 featured screenshots, this is how the default desktop + application launcher interface will look like:
It is similar to what I am using on my more ‘geeky’ desktop, except for the presence of Trash icon (I guess I never used it in my life, so I don’t need it), and for the absence of virtual desktops (as you could have noticed in my previous posts in this blog, this is a feature I really cannot live without
).
Besides it, as it was already mentioned in some of the previous blog posts, stack folders feature will be enabled and activated by default on desktop. And this is how it looks like (on my desktop):
As you can see, LibreOffice is now fully integrated, and default desktop UI is (almost) there. Just some polishing to do, theming and updates, and beta2 will roll out!
P.S.: You may wonder why the title of this post is “StackFolders fun” if I don’t talk that much about stack folders.. well.. just install cooker and try using then to see how really cool they are!

LibreOffice is not fully integrated, we are not using the LibreOffice icons : http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/LibreOffice_Initial_Icons
Since LibreOffice is regularly updated and it is a huge software, what are the plans for LibreOffice updates during the Mandriva 2011 version lifetime? Choosing LibreOffice as the main office application suite was a big step, but at least minor updates of it made time to time would be nice so users can have the latest stuff and less bugs. Due to “GTK emulation” of LibreOffice, providing KDE integration is harder. With the recent 2010.2 x64 Powerpack version of Mandriva, the maximum I did was to compile and install the oxygen-gtk theme on it, so the widgets of LibreOffice and other GTK+ could fit to Oxygen in KDE 4.4. But I miss the Open/Save dialog style of KDE 4. I am waiting for 2011 to see it in fit with the Mandriva’s KDE 4.6.
So far the plan is to keep it up-to-date for the supported distros, the way it is done with OOo. Let’s see how it goes..
Ok. That is nice! From now, we need to wait for LO’s Open/Save dialogs support in KDE 4, like we had with OO.o in Mandriva 2010 series. LO devs could improve it for us!

I didn’t like the ROSA menu like this guy

Please let as default the KDE 4 default menu or the old Mandriva’s menu.
